Since I can't critique (no subscription) but have things to praise:
- the sky/leaves between and above the trees is like a box of gems; the addition of the purples and the warm greens makes it especially vibrant and interesting;(also balances our the bright orange in the center) - the wetness and the reflections on the ground are just right - slightly less of it, and the painting wouldn't capture our eye so well. Critiques
As a lover of reflections, this painting is an automatic win for me, the artist is an amazingly clever technician and his skills really do not need more boasting than that.
In saying that, the colours are probably the focus for me in this work. There are reds, blues, purples, and oranges we could not expect to find had this been a photography, and yet the unrealistic nature of the colour really draws me in.
The subject of the work, two people walking their dog, gives the audience this inexplicable feeling of contentment - this is another Sunday afternoon spent in the company of the rain and those close to us.
I personally am left feeling elated and calmly happy after viewing this painting; it is one I will want to return to time after time.
