Little bridge by Leonid Afremov

This is a beautiful piece. There is a fantastic use of simple strokes to create the trees in the forefront, sky and bank, and when taking in the picture as a whole, these areas work better painted simply, giving one a better sense of actually witnessing the setting instead of looking at a painting.

In contrast, the bridge, trees and water are done carefully and can really pop off their more abstract surroundings.

The way the bridge is drawn, as well as the skill in placing trees further into the background while the water brushes up against the bottom of the painting gives a fantastic sense of depth.

Its hard to find much to fault with this one. Enough is left up to individual interpretation which leaves little room for any obvious flaws or weaknesses. The one thing I would say, and I've noticed this in a few of your pictures, is that the reflection off the water is a bit too bold, but only subtly so. That bold a reflection doesnt seem to fit in with the rest of the picture which rings true to real life. But again, a subtle issue if it is one.
