The shingling palette knife technique is astounding, the balance of contrasting colors rivating and the detail is appropriately done for the style. The observer can imagine the place, walk down the path, see the boat coming down the canal. One of the best qualities of this paiting is certainly the array of colors. Like many of his paintings, he uses both warm and cold colors to make such a huge impact. Beauty is not always easy to portray for images and landscapes that are harsh and harmful to the eye, but he goes past all of that with a post-impressionist scope and dives into the colors that people should see. This is a painting that both Monet and Van Gogh would be proud of.
