Mystery of Venice by Leonid Afremov

this is really quite a stunning picture, and the way the buildings are subdued with blues and purples and how they sort of blend in with the water really captures the night time feeling and how magical and surreal a gondola ride must feel like - the reflections in the water are well thought out as the the light especially continues on further in the water like a reverse shadow (i've seen in many paintings how the light just sort of stops just under the lamp but it's meant to continue so that's great you understand that) and even though the person is small on the gondola it's proportionate which is almost something worth noting
my only complaint is i don't know what the person on the gondola is carrying - it it just his belongings, trash, at first i thought it was a couple huddling together but i wasn't sure, or was it meant to be something to notice? the reason why i notice it is because it's the only thing on the canvas that's green
overall - wonderful job encompassing a night on the water in the beautiful city of venice <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=" (Smile)"/>
